The Son Also Rises

Interesting day -- my older son is a senior at Columbia in the School of General Studies. He told me that Columbia has just put his name into nomination for a Rhodes Scholarship. And my younger son, who just turned 11, gave a short guitar recital at St Edwards here in Austin. Two kids, two different mothers. They look vaguely alike, but are completely dissimilar personalities. One had a long, tortuous road with many bumps along the way. The other has had a reasonably smooth life. Yet they are both driven by an internal fire to succeed. I am equally proud of both.
